BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A young Lynden man who carries the dubious reputation as one of our county’s most prolific car prowlers and thieves has been busy again.

A sheriff’s spokesman says a Sumas police officer spotted 21-year-old Vince Willie DeBoer in a parked car on Monday.

DeBoer was suspected in a series of thefts in Sumas and he ran when the officer tried to contact him.

The officer took him in to custody, and sheriff’s deputies who responded saw items in the car that matched the description of property stolen earlier that day in a car prowl on Halverstick Road.

A warrant revealed other things taken in thefts in the Lynden area.

DeBoer was booked into jail but released on Wednesday.
