A model recently discussed by the Whatcom County Health Department shows that the county may be past a first peak in COVID-19 infections. Erika Lautenbach, director of the Whatcom County Health Department, joins Tessa on the KGMI Afternoon News to talk about what the model shows and where it comes from. Lautenbach also recently recommended the cancellation of summer events in Whatcom County. She tells Tessa avoiding gatherings is crucial to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community and to ensure Whatcom County is, in fact, first the past peak of infections.
