BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Mount Baker Foundation has announced several emergency grants in support of community organizations responding to the COVID-19 crisis.

Grants of up to $200,000 were approved to support childcare providers currently providing emergency care for first responders and essential workers.

The Council on Aging received $125,000 for continuing and expanding the Meals on Wheels program with an extended focus for rural communities.

The grant will also allow the Council to continue and expand check-in calls to individuals homebound by COVID-19 with a check on what services they may require.

Lydia Place will receive up to $50,000 for the protection of families and securing interim housing for families experiencing homelessness.

A grant of $5,000 was awarded to Bellingham Makerspace to support their work manufacturing face shields for Tyvek gowns for healthcare workers.
