MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, construction work at Mount Vernon High School is moving forward.

After the Governor deemed school construction essential, the Mount Vernon School District collaborated with contractor Lydig Construction to ensure the fine arts modernization project could safely continue.

Assistant Superintendent Bill Nutting told the Skagit Valley Herald the project is on schedule and should wrap up in late June.

Nutting said that completion of the fine arts building is essential to the remodel of Old Main, another part of the larger overall modernization planned for the school.
