BELLINGHAM, Wash. — An old Motel 6 in Bellingham is officially open as the county’s first COVID-19 quarantine facility.
Whatcom Unified Command opened the facility to provide a safe place for individuals to isolate or quarantine if they cannot do so in their own home.
Social workers from PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center will maintain bed control for the facility, which is staffed by SeaMar with support from the Lighthouse Mission.
It’s designed for temporary use during medically required isolation and quarantine for those whose condition does not warrant hospitalization.
