OLYMPIA, Wash. — Spill responders with the state Department of Ecology have seen an increase in illegal dumping amid the COVID-19 crisis, which has forced many collection sites to close.
They are reminding everyone not to dump household waste as it can have lasting effects on human health and the environment.
Waste oil, paint, household chemicals or other hazardous materials should be safely stored until waste collection facilities reopen.
