SEATTLE, Wash. — A police chase of a man with a young child in his vehicle went for 52 miles through three western Washington counties Tuesday.
The State Patrol reports a trooper pulled the man over in his pick-up for speeding on I-405 in King County.
The trooper saw a young child in the vehicle and found the driver was wanted for unlawfully taking his four-year-old daughter from her mother in New Mexico.
The driver took off and led officers on a chase north on I-5 into Snohomish County and eventually into Skagit County where he was stopped near Cedardale and Starbird Roads.
The child was recovered upset but unharmed.
Troopers arrested 26-year-old Mauricio Nava-Tapia of Stanwood on a number of charges.
