WASHINGTON, D.C. — $50-million in federal funding will go to Washington State fishermen.

U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell helped secure the funding as part of the CARES Act that aims to provide economic relief amid the coronavirus crisis.

Those eligible to receive grants include commercial fishing businesses, charter/for-hire fishing businesses, shellfish aquaculture operations, processors, other fishery-related businesses, and Tribes that have suffered losses as a result of the pandemic.

Washington state and Alaska are the largest recipients of the funding, receiving almost twice as much as any other state.
