SEATTLE, Wash. — An increase in mobility among Americans is likely to lead to a higher number of deaths from COVID-19.
That’s according to new projections from the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.
Director Dr. Christopher Murray says deaths will likely reach 137,000 in the U.S. by August 4th, almost 3,000 more than were expected just last week.
He says higher transmission rates should become apparent in just 10 days to two weeks as people become more active.
