OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee has issued additional guidance for outdoor recreation in phase 1 of his ‘safe start’ plan.
Outdoor recreation operations including staffed outdoor tennis courts; guided ATV, paddle sports, horseback riding, and fishing; go-cart tracks; motocross facilities, and more can proceed immediately as long as they can meet safety requirements.
Operators must adopt a written procedure for employee safety and customer interaction that outlines how they will prevent the spread of COVID-19.
And Whitman County is the 9th county approved to move to “phase 2” of Governor Inslee’s Safe Start Plan early.
Washington State Secretary of Health John Wiesman approved the county’s application, which will allow them to take a faster path to reopening businesses including restaurants.
Counties applying for these variances must have a low population and no new cases of COVID-19 in the last three weeks.
Inslee said the governor’s office is working on criteria for larger counties interested in moving forward.
