BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Whatcom County residents can now see general locations of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

A map published by the Whatcom County Health Department shows the rate of confirmed cases of the illness across all school districts in Whatcom County.

Bellingham has the highest rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents at 173, closely followed by Blaine at 171.

Lynden and Ferndale show 148 and 146 cases per 100,000 respectively, and the Mount Baker District has 139 cases per 100,000 residents despite its dispersed population.

The Meridian Districts and Nooksack Valley Districts show the lowest rate of infection at 93 and 90 per 100,000.

In spite of the close rates in some areas, the actual number of cases varies widely depending on the number of people who live in a district.
