SEATTLE, Wash. — University of Washington researchers have found that an antibody produced by people who recovered from SARS in 2003 inhibits other coronaviruses, including the one that causes COVID-19.
Lead researcher David Veesler says the hope is that it will lead to an effective treatment for COVID-19.
He says the antibody was discovered in a laboratory setting and hasn’t yet been tested in people.
The antibody is now being produced and tested by a bio-tech firm for possible clinical trials.
