BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Mukilteo man is in the Whatcom County Jail, which is where he told arresting officers he hoped they would take him after he smashed windows on the Courthouse Rotunda.
A Sheriff’s spokesman says deputies and police responded Sunday morning to reports of a man throwing large rocks at the windows and hitting them with a rake.
They say 29-year-old Kyle P. Ruggirello had broken through and was sitting on a bench inside the closed courthouse when they arrived.
He told them he had no place to stay and jail was his only option.
He caused more than $4000 in damage and faces burglary and malicious mischief charges.
