WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Whatcom County still has some work to do before the next phase of Governor Inslee’s “Safe Start” plan.
The plan was put in place to safely reopen the state’s economy amid the coronavirus pandemic with a phased approach.
Most of the state is in phase 1 of the plan, while some counties who have a low number of COVID-19 cases have been allowed to move ahead to phase 2.
To move on early, Whatcom County must have an average of less than 22.5 new cases over a 2 week period.
The Whatcom County Health Department reports between May 11 and 25, there were 37 new cases.
