BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom County has submitted a plan to the state Department of Health to move to Phase 2 of “Safe Start Washington.”

The County Council acting as the Health Board voted in favor of the move and County Executive Satpal Sidhu added a statement of support.

Phase 2 allows several businesses to open with safety restrictions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

That includes retail stores, hair salons, restaurants, and more.

The Whatcom County Health Department expects to get approval from the state in a few days.
