MATIA ISLAND, Wash. – A crew from U.S. Coast Guard Station Bellingham responded to the fire near Matia Island where they provided first aid and transported the owners back to their home with help from a Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations vessel.
The agency reports that nobody was seriously injured.
The owners were able to escape the fire to shore on an 8-foot inflatable with assistance from a good Samaritan.
