OLYMPIA, Wash. – The state Department of Fish and Wildlife wants input from the local commercial fishing and shellfish industry on how best to distribute $50 million in COVID-19 relief funds.

The money for Washington’s industry is part of $300 million in federal aid Congress approved under the CARES Act.

Fish and Wildlife director of fish policy Ron Warren says they’re looking to develop a balanced plan to distribute the funds.

The department is hosting a number of on-line discussions for different industry sectors between June 18th and 30th.
