SEATTLE, Wash. – After changes were made to Seattle’s occupied protest zone to allow traffic access to the area, protesters blocked the newly opened streets.

KING-5 reports City officials held a meeting with protest organizers, businesses, and residents on Sunday to discuss proposed changes.

New barriers were installed in the area Tuesday to protect individuals while making room for vehicles to drive through.

Hours after the barriers were installed, KOMO News reports protesters blocked the lanes with some signs reading ‘Still our streets’.

Seattle’s fire chief said the barriers were meant to protect protesters from people who may have wanted to drive through the crowd while still allowing residents access to an arterial road.
