BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A new report shows the global pandemic is having severe economic impacts on the local fishing industry.
The Regional Economic Partnership at the Port of Bellingham released a report with results of three fishing industry surveys with the intention of capturing economic effects of COVID-19.
REP Director Don Goldberg says the results show that the “need for relief and assistance is immense”
He says its critical to get direct cash transfers and grants to businesses in need as soon as possible.
The survey report will be distributed to local, county, state, and federal representatives to inform strategies for economic recovery.
