SNOHOMISH, Wash. – A plant nursery in Snohomish is under investigation after allegedly banning face masks.

The Everett Herald reports a Department of Labor and Industries inspector visited Flower World last week.

The investigation was sparked by a letter given to employees saying they may not wear face coverings while on the job.

The letter cited health concerns that the mask could be a source of infection when not properly handled.

A L&I department spokesperson said a company can be fined if it does not follow state issued requirements.

The inspector claims that when they visited the business neither employees on the floor nor those behind plexiglass shields at checkout counters appeared to be wearing any type of face covering.

Flower World’s owner said they were in compliance with all OSHA and L&I requirements.
