BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Some people expressed concern that Bellingham Police facilities were being targeted when they saw that windows were broken at a downtown police office, but that’s not the case.
Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says officers used surveillance video to identify 20-year-old Mallik J. Goins as the person who threw rocks at windows on the BPD transit office on Railroad early Monday.
They arrested Goins after he also broke windows at a convenience store Monday night, and at a church on E Street Tuesday morning.
Lt. Murphy says he was apparently expressing anger at several different parties, and wasn’t specifically targeting police.
Damage to the windows totals over $7000.
He’s booked into the Whatcom County Jail on malicious mischief charges.
