BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The global pandemic could have a long term effect on Canadian shopping in Whatcom County.

Western Washington University’s Border Policy Research Institute released a report that indicates border restrictions put in place to slow the spread of COVID-19 could reduce Canadians’ future cross-border shopping trips.

The report says the plan to ease border restrictions July 21 may not alleviate Canadians’ safety concerns that could keep them from shopping in Washington.
