BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Delivery of locally grown food has grown in Whatcom County since the start of the pandemic.

Jonny Lane is the owner of Dandelion Organic Delivery in Bellingham and told the Northern Light their customer count more than doubled between March and May.

Lane says they have had to move to three days of delivery per week, up from one, to meet demand for locally grown food from their suppliers such as Spotted Owl Farm in Blaine.

Dandelion Organic Delivery sends food to about 100 customers in the Blaine area.

The five-acre farm specializes in tomatoes, but also grows other produce like strawberries, hot peppers and herbs.

The company prioritizes delivering produce from local farms but they substitute organic produce from outside the region when the local produce is limited during the colder months.
