WASHINGTON, D.C. — Some producers of agricultural commodities grown in Whatcom County and statewide may be eligible for expanded USDA pandemic assistance.

The USDA Thursday announced expansion of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program for producers of apples, blueberries, raspberries, potatoes and other commodities.

The program provides direct relief payments to producers who faced price declines and additional marketing costs due to COVID-19.

Producers can apply at farmers.gov/cfap through August 28.

USDA says the site will have the updated commodity information starting Monday.
