BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Construction of a COVID-19 emergency shelter in Bellingham is complete.
The project to turn the former Public Market building on Cornwall Avenue into an emergency shelter facility was fast tracked.
After a month of construction, the City of Bellingham has announced that the Lighthouse Mission Ministires new Base Camp is ready for guests.
People will begin moving in Friday.
The remodeled building has dedicated sleeping space, a community room, showers and laundry facilities as well as a large fenced courtyard and it’s spacious enough to allow for social distancing.
