BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A late night outing on the waters of the Strait went wrong for three boaters.
The Coast Guard says three people were found in the water about a half of a mile northwest of Guemes Island early Friday morning.
Late Thursday night, a good Samaritan called from his residence on the Island’s waterfront after hearing people shouting “where are you?” and “don’t give up, I’m right here.”
A Bellingham coast guard crew and a Port Angeles station coast guard helicopter crew teamed up on the rescue.
The three boaters, who were not wearing life jackets, said they were pulling crab pots when their 12-foot boat capsized.
