PORTLAND, Ore. — The actions of federal agents at protests in Portland are raising the prospect of a constitutional crisis.

There have been 52 straight days of protests in the city following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25.

The Trump administration dispatched federal law enforcement officers from agencies under the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security against the wishes of state and local officials.

Oregon has sued over the agents’ actions, which constitutional law experts say are “unprecedented” and a “red flag.”
