BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The North Cascades Highway is getting safety improvements.
A series of landslides last month caused a portion of the highway near Rockport to close.
Drivers are now forced to detour around the area while crews work to stabilize the slope.
The DOT says they have now begun drilling into the hillside to insert rock dowels.
Crews estimate the project will take at least 30 working days to complete.
