OLYMPIA, Wash. -A new guide can help you prepare your home and family for a major earthquake.

The Washington Geological Survey has issued a new pamphlet that spells out the different kind of shaking a quake in Washington could cause, and what type of structures are most at risk.

It gives tips on what parts of your home should be secured both inside and out, along with information about how homeowners can make many retrofits themselves.

It also offers recommendations on how to react during a quake and what supplies you should stock-up on ahead of time.
