OLYMPIA, Wash. — The state Department of Agriculture is calling unsolicited shipments of seeds to local residents a case of agricultural smuggling.
On their Facebook page, the department says the seeds have been arriving by regular mail from China, in packages labeled as containing jewelry.
The department says if you receive seeds this way, save the unopened packaged. and make a report to the USDA.
The concern is that unsolicited seeds could be invasive, introduce diseases to local plants, or be harmful to livestock.
