FERNDALE, Wash. — More than one rally was held in Ferndale on Friday.

Students from Ferndale High School organized a rally and march through downtown in support of Black lives and, a few blocks away, others rallied in support of law enforcement.

Mayor Greg Hansen says, with a few exceptions, both events were peaceful and representative of Ferndale’s values.

He says he is thankful for all who peacefully assembled, wore masks and stayed socially distanced while they advocated for a better tomorrow.

The mayor says he supports both causes and says the ideas are not incompatible.
