OLYMPIA, Wash. — The halibut fishing season is set to open this week.
After a delay due to COVID-19, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife announced that they will open recreational fishing of coastal halibut beginning August 6 lasting through September or until the quota is taken.
Marine areas in the Puget Sound are open three days per week on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
In all marine areas, there is a one-fish daily catch limit and an annual limit of four halibut.
