BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The search has been called off for a man gone missing in local waters.
Michael Smith, 39, was scheduled to arrive in Blaine by sunset Monday but a family member told Swinomish tribal police he never showed up.
He was last seen wearing black shorts and a blue sweatshirt.
The Coast Guard and several tribal vessels searched waters between LaConnor and Blaine, without success.
