HOODSPORT, Wash. — You may have to change plans if you’re headed to Olympic National Park this weekend.
Access to Lake Cushman in Mason County and the Staircase entrance to the national park will be closed to the public beginning tomorrow (Saturday) due to overcrowding
The U.S. Forest Service says recent increased visitation along the narrow road corridor has far exceeded capacity and led to gridlock, which prevented emergency response vehicles and personnel from responding to requests for help.
They say overuse of the area has also led to resource damage.
