MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Whatcom County residents won’t be able to head south for free COVID testing for much longer.

Skagit County’s drive-thru COVID-19 testing site will be restricted to those who live or work in the county beginning August 31.

County spokesperson Laura Han told the Skagit Valley Herald the county cannot continue to test the number of people it does due to limited funding and volunteers.

County staff will add a screening station at the testing center to verify whether people live or work there.

Whatcom County residents can schedule testing through the Whatcom County Health Department at testdirectly.com.
