OLYMPIA, Wash. — Whatcom County’s curve continues to flatten.

Over the past 7 days, 24 new coronavirus positive test results have been reported to the state department of health, with no new hospitalizations or deaths during that period.

The state’s risk assessment dashboard now shows Whatcom County below the goal infection rate of 25 per 100,000 population for the period ending August 25th.

The state has revised the number of risk metrics goals down to 4, eliminating the goal of testing rate per 100,000 population, although it is still being reported.

Whatcom County is meeting two of the remaining four goals- percent of hospital beds occupied by COVID patients, and percent of all tests that are positive.

Skagit County is meeting the two metrics related to hospitalization, while Island and San Juan Counties are passing on all four risk metrics.
