BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Masks and mandatory testing will be centerpieces of Western Washington University’s efforts to keep COVID off campus.

President Sabah Randhawa has issued guidelines for the limited number of people expected on campus this fall.

Students who live, work or attend classes on campus will be required to be tested as often as every two weeks, and face coverings are required for everyone in campus buildings and vehicles.

Masks are required outside unless social distancing can be maintained.

The school is preparing space for on-campus residents who test positive or otherwise need to isolate.

Only about 1800 students are expected to attend classes in person with 1300 of them living in residence halls.

That compares to 15,000 students and 4000 residents in a typical year.
