BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man landed in the hospital after jumping into the creek at Whatcom Falls Park over the weekend.

Crews from the Bellingham Fire Department responded to reports of an unconscious man in the park at about 1:45 Saturday afternoon.

They arrived to find the approximately 40-year-old man responsive and used a rope system to get him from the water’s edge onto the trail.

Paramedics then transported to Saint Joseph’s with serious injuries.

Dave Pethic with the BFD advises Whatcom Falls Park visitors to stay on designated trails and obey posted park regulations.
