OLYMPIA, Wash. — The state Department of Health is bolstering community COVID-19 testing.

The department is teaming up with several organizations, volunteers and health practitioners to increase the availability and accessibility of testing across the state.

One organization is Seattle-based non-profit Medical Teams International who is currently providing two mobile teams supporting testing in Benton, Franklin and Yakima counties.

MTI will continue to help provide an initial surge in testing while longer-term resources are identified.

Meanwhile, the state reports five new positive coronavirus tests for Monday in Whatcom County – the most recent day available, with no new hospitalizations or deaths.

Whatcom County is passing on the two risk metrics related to hospital utilization.

But, due to a recent uptick in positive tests, the county is now failing on both the risk metrics related to infection rates.
