BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Port of Bellingham is expanding its ferry service to help Point Roberts residents feel a bit less isolated.
The ferry will now sail Tuesdays and Fridays and carry passengers between the Point Roberts Marina and the Bellingham Cruise Terminal in Fairhaven.
The expanded service begins next Tuesday, September 8th.
The ferry is free to ride but reservations and masks are required.

Meanwhile, the Port says they’ve been working with federal representatives and a crossborder task force on a travel exemption for Point Roberts residents during the pandemic.
1st District U.S. Representative Susan DelBene says she sent a letter to Canada’s Minister of Public Safety asking that they be allowed to make the short drive to the border crossing in Blaine.
The Canadian government requires anyone traveling from the U.S. to quarantine for 14 days and has so far been unwilling to allow an exemption for Point Roberts.
