OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Department of Ecology has released expanded reporting rules for the transport of crude oil in Washington state aimed at improving spill prevention and preparedness.
The proposed rules would require facilities receiving crude by rail to give advance notice of the type of oil and vapor pressure of the shipments.
They would expand reporting requirements for pipelines including the type and gravity of oil being transported.
These and other changes were mandated by the legislature last year.
Ecology is accepting public comment in writing or online through November 1st and at three public hearings in October.
