BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom County’s Fire Marshal has ordered a burn ban to prevent wildfires from sparking locally.
Deputy Fire Marshal Curtis Metz has ordered restrictions on all open burning effective immediately due to increasingly dry weather conditions and anticipated high fire danger.
This ban is in conjunction with statewide outdoor burning restrictions enacted by the DNR for all state-protected lands.
Violators will face a fine of at least $250.
Propane fire pits without solid wood burning will still be allowed, along with propane and charcoal BBQs.
