BLAINE, Wash. — The International Peace Arch Association is hoping to get some high profile recognition for the 100th anniversary of the monument.

The Blaine-based association has been lobbying postal authorities in both Canada and the U.S. for a stamp recognizing the centennial of the arch, which was completed in 1921.

Association president and co-founder Christine Winkler said that a letter from Canada Post assured her that the commemorative stamp is on the list being considered for release in 2021.

There has been no formal response from the U.S. side, but Winkler hopes that it will be considered by the US Postal Service as a possible joint-issue stamp with Canada if approved by Canada Post.

More information on the commemorative stamp request and its history, along with a call for artist submissions can be found on the International Peace Arch Association website.
