MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A train hit an empty van that was stuck on the tracks in Skagit County Friday.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports a 28-year-old Burlington man called 911 at about 1 a.m. Friday and said he had attempted to make a turn when his vehicle stalled on the tracks where Highway 20 meets Farm to Market Road between Burlington and Anacortes.

An oncoming train hit the van a few minutes later, after the man had jumped from the van.
