OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman filed legal action Thursday asking for a ruling that electronic signatures are not acceptable on initiative petitions.
Wyman filed the suit in Thurston County Superior Court in response to initiative sponsors saying the Secretary of State is required to count electronic signatures when verifying and canvassing signatures on initiative petitions.
There have been 67 initiates to the Legislature proposed this year, Wyman says.
