BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man is in custody after a homeless woman told police he assaulted her earlier this month.
Lieutenant Claudia Murphy reports officers responded to a camp near PetSmart on the Guide Meridian on September 11th where a woman said a man pulled her out of her tent and raped her.
She identified the suspect as 33-year-old John D. Polk from a photo line-up.
Patrol officers spotted him in the 4300 block of Meridian the next day but he tried to escape on a bicycle.
They were able to arrest him after subduing him with a taser.
He faces a 2nd degree rape charge.
