OLYMPIA, Wash. — The probability of a wetter and colder winter is increasing, according to forecasters.

The federal Climate Prediction Center said last Thursday that a La Nina has formed with below-average ocean temperatures.

The odds of the pattern staying through the winter are now up to 75%, according to the Center.

The Capital Press reports the last La Nina winter in Washington was 2017-2018 and saw snowpack 13% higher than normal.
