BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington University reports two positive COVID-19 tests among almost 1700 students who have been tested since classes began a week ago.

Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services Director Dr. Sislena Ledbetter says they have quarantine facilities ready.

Students who live off campus and who need to quarantine or isolate are advised to remain in place or return home if they can.

The university is testing pooled samples of the sharply reduced on-campus population every two weeks.

Meanwhile, the state health department reported 5 new positive virus tests in Whatcom County Tuesday, the most recent data available.

The data dashboard for the last week shows four new deaths and a test positivity rate now up to 2.4%.
