SHELTON, Wash. —
The Washington State Patrol has welcomed new troopers to their ranks.
Graduates of the 113th Trooper Basic Training Class were sworn in by Washington State Supreme Court Justice Susan Owens in a ceremony at the WSP academy in Shelton.
They were also welcomed to service by Chief John Batiste and Governor Jay Inslee in a socially distanced ceremony held outside on the facility’s driving skills range.
The 49 newly-commissioned troopers have been on the Shelton campus since March, isolated from many of the impacts of the coronavirus.
They have now departed for their duty stations all across the state.
