BELLINGHAM, Wash. — PeaceHealth is warning of a phone scam potentially impacting patients in Whatcom County.
In a so-called “vishing” scam, callers pretend to be from PeaceHealth or another health agency and try to steal personal information over the phone.
PeaceHealth says the scammers may have already found some other personal information through other sources, which makes them seem legitimate.
They may also make the caller ID look like the call is coming from PeaceHealth.
PeaceHealth says they will never pressure patients to provide personal information.
Anyone who receives this call should hang up immediately and call their provider’s office directly to touch base.
